Dr. Karen Fung-Harris:

Dr. Karen Fung-Harris was born in Toronto, Ontario but spent her formative years in Windsor, Ontario. She earned her Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biology at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario where she was recognized as a Canada Scholar. She moved back to her birthplace and earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Toronto. Toronto was good to her as this is where she met her husband, Dr. Chev Harris, a fellow classmate in dental school. Dr. Harris convinced her to make just one more move north to Ottawa, Ontario which she now considers home. In 1998, Dr. Fung-Harris and her husband took over Dr. George Schow’s practices - Metcalfe Family Dental Centre in 1998 and Osgoode Family Dental Centre in 2001.

Dr. Fung-Harris enjoys taking continuing education courses in order to expand all aspects of her dentistry. She has enjoyed practicing in such a wonderful community with such great patients and staff. She keeps herself very busy running after two children, Chase and Kalia. She loves golfing, playing the piano, swimming and has become addicted to running. She loves to travel and experience new cultures and experiences. Dr. Fung-Harris hopes to continue to serve the community for many years to come and is very grateful for all life's blessings.

Dr. Chev Harris:

Dr Chevreul (Chev) Harris was born in Nottingham, England. Though his family immigrated to Canada in 1970 and settled in the Toronto area, he has been proud to call the city of Ottawa home since 1980. After attending Queens University in Kingston, in 1991 he obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science (BScH) degree in Life Sciences followed in 1993 by an Honours Master of Science (MScH) degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology. His Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree with honours was obtained at the University of Toronto in 1998.

Returning home to Ottawa with his classmate and future wife Dr. Karen Fung-Harris, they acquired the former practices of Dr. George Schow in the south end of Ottawa. The Metcalfe Family Dental Centre was obtained in 1998 followed shortly thereafter by the Osgoode Family Dental Centre in 2001. It has been their pleasure to service this wonderful community and as a husband and wife team they feel privileged that you have honoured them in bringing your families to join theirs.

Continued learning is a lifelong goal that will forever take place for himself and the office as a whole. This goal is necessary as they strive to provide our community some of the vast treatment options that dentistry has to offer. Several times during the year they open their doors to area Assistant and Hygiene schools in order to help train future dental professionals that will leave from their offices and play roles throughout the region.

At the central core of Dr. Harris’ life is the love for God and love for family. This governs and strengthens all interactions whether personal or professional in nature and has truly served him well in his commitment to the well being of his patients and staff alike.

When not focused solely on teeth, Dr Harris' focus is on his family which includes his 2 children, Chase and Kalia, photography, sharing his faith and the elusive hole in one on the golf course.
